Kill the flesh part 2
And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” Gen. 3:15. God always had the plan of salvation in mind and informed us of His plan as soon as sin entered the world. Satan formulated a plan involving the serpent in Eden, but God was way ahead of him, having already ordained the Serpent-crusher. Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled God’s mission: “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work”. John 21:31 says Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. Jesus cut the head of the snake but the tail is moving and it constantly tries to live in us to stir our fleshly desires. Christ gives us the strength to cut the head of our evil desires so we can learn to control the slivering tail when it comes within. So, what is this flesh and what are we trying to kill? It's our will. What you begin to kill is your will. Jesus says deny yourself and take up the your Cross. In you denying your flesh the Spirit of Christ begins to strengthen you and conform you into the Image of Jesus. He is the remedy for the sinful flesh that we suffer with every day. He made Him who knew no sin to become sin for us. This so that we could become the righteousness of God in Christ. Amen. Jesus hung on a Cross crucifying our flesh so that we could live through him and not us trying to do it ourselves. Makes sense? This is why Christ died on the Cross. For us to daily deny ourselves, taking up the cross in our own lives submitting our will to Jesus. He does the rest of the work in us. The work of righteousness through the power of Holy Spirit and sanctification. So, hearing killing the flesh should mean something different to you now. It's not beating yourself up to kill the old man and its desires. It's a daily pursing of relationship with Christ and allowing him to teach you and guide you in the victory over the flesh. He overcame so we can overcome. A daily of submission of the will to live in fellowship with the Light of heaven. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7. Amen. The darkness has not understood the light. Listen to this Scripture: The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:4-5. Amen. To overcome the flesh we must start living in the Light. And thats you denying yourself, your will and living in fellowship with God daily. When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Amen. You will not be able to overcome this through behavior modification and your own blood, sweat, and tears. This is a supernatural work done by Jesus to kill our flesh and live by The Spirit of Christ. For what the law of Moses was unable to do to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. We live free because He lives. And we must tap into his power daily. The question is will you deny yourself, deny your own will? Giving the LORD Jesus your mind, your heart, your strength, your soul daily. That's what it means to give your will to God. If your struggling with the flesh today, stop spiritually punching yourself to kill your flesh. It's a kicking against the goads that does you no good. Jesus has cut the head of snake of evil desires on the Cross. We must now learn to control the slivering tail that tempts us into the life of the flesh. We have been set free not to live in the flesh but in the Spirit and have a more abundant life now and forever. I hope I am crucified with Christ means more to you now than ever before. Jesus has condemned sin and the flesh to end sin’s control over us. He is our living sacrifice once and for all for all our sins. He is lifted up in this world today, seated in Heavenly Places in Victory! He is lifted up in this wilderness experience of life so we can be healed from sin, the flesh and the devil. The Bronze Snake as antidote to the flesh sin and death, the Lamb that takes away the sin of this world, and the Light of Heaven that shines in the dark emptiness of this life.
