No Bark. No Bite. Humble Submission. We are no better than rabid dogs sometimes the way we treat each other and ourselves. So, I was watching an episode of Caesar Milan the dog whisperer. He does amazing work with training wild dogs to be social able and to be safe around people and other animals. It's truly amazing to watch, and I thought how much more hard work yet satisfying it is to God to submit the human will to himself. The LORD made us a little lower than the angels and gave us dominion over the earth. Because of sin though the power of the flesh in us throws our hearts out of wack towards God and others. Eccles. 3:18-19 I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. For people and animals share the same fate—both breathe and both must die. So, people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless! Amen. Hear this: A man who is held in honor, yet who lacks spiritual understanding and a teachable heart, is like the beasts that perish. Yes, a man with all his self-honor and pomp, will not endure; He is like the beasts that perish. I dare say without the grace of the Spirit of God we all would live lives like wild beasts of the field. Like Nebuchadnezzar our flesh would take over although not to that extreme. But our hearts could become so wicked and cruel without the mercy of God. We need Jesus desperately and His Life in us give us a chance to partake in His Divine Nature. Able to live a life that pleases God and be at peace with His Creation. Through the power of Holy Spirit in us God is able change the most heartless of people. Some people just want to be good in human standards. But through the Spirit of Christ, we can be made in His Image and experience an abundant and holy life. People of this world live by their selfish desires and hurt others. There righteousness is as a filthy rag. They have no Master and no purpose greater than themselves. God in Christ can take a sinful people and tame their tongue making them even sociable and caring. There are people who don't like to be around other people. They are not hospitable echoing the words of Cain, am I my brother's keeper? But Jesus comes into their lives, and they become new creatures! Wow. One of the most heartwarming things you see in the show is the wild dog's humble submission. They find peace and purpose in there training and knowing the Master. How much more do we as people find peace from a wild flesh that is heartless and never satisfied. A mind that is at odds not just with others but within themselves. God takes all our insecurities and failures and makes us fulfilled creatures in a broken world. And not just that but make people of God that actually love one another and even the stranger the way Jesus loves. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. Eze. 36:26 Amen. What a work of God to tame the tongue of sinful mankind! All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. Only by the power of Jesus life in us can we tame such a powerful weapon. Life and death are in the tongue and submission to Christ is how you overcome.
I want to close with the words of Peter about false teachers starting in 2 Peter 2:12: These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed. Their destruction is their reward for the harm they have done. They love to indulge in evil pleasures in broad daylight. They are a disgrace and a stain among you. They delight in deception even as they eat with you in your fellowship meals. They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse. Amen. Submitted to the Master and LORD Jesus we can avoid the corruption of this world. Enjoy fellowship with each other simply say it like this: How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe.
