Proverbs of a 42 yr old man

So many people say things that they will never do because they cave into peer pressure or pride. Others will do things that they never said they would do but do it anyway because of a change of heart or belief. It is so hard to be perfect in what you say and also be perfect in your everyday actions. But I would rather be the one who does not say everything perfect but actually does more right by actions than by words. Does that make sense? Your words will condemn you if your actions don’t follow. Maybe for a time you can say words and not really be held accountable. But soon words are found out by their intent and lack of action. So many love preaching sermons but never live it out. Think about the sin of omission. The things we should have done and never did. You knew what was right but didn't do it anyway. You said the right words but failed to follow through. Let your yes be yes, and that's it. Let your No be no and that's it. Too many words spoken is where sin can take hold of our hearts. We need to be doers of the word and not just hearers. There is a parable I love that Jesus illustrates that is perfect for this word: Parable of the Two Sons

28“But what do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway. 30 Then the father told the other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go. 31“Which of the two obeyed his father?” They replied, “The first.” Then Jesus explained his meaning: “I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do. 32 For John the Baptist came and showed you the right way to live, but you didn’t believe him, while tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even when you saw this happening, you refused to believe him and repent of your sins. Amen.

Throughout the Bible, actions are portrayed as a vital expression of faith and obedience to God. They serve as evidence of one's relationship with God and have both temporal and eternal consequences. The Scriptures call believers to live lives marked by righteousness, justice, and love, reflecting the character of Christ in all they do. Let me close not so heavy ended on actions because in this context words are also important. Believers in Christ know that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Meaning consistently sinful words and deeds are indicative of a sinful heart. If a person is angry, rude, lewd, or immoral on a regular basis, you can be assured that this is what he is like “on the inside.” If a person is consistently kind, encouraging, and polite, then you can be sure that is what he is like “on the inside.” Of course, it is possible that someone might put up a façade to deceive others regarding his character, but eventually what is inside will come out. The mouth speaks out of the abundance the overflow of the heart. Your words shape you in so many ways who you are. In your thinking, attitude, and emotions. Your words have the power to give life and also kill. The Bible also warns against various forms of negative speech, such as gossip, slander, and deceit. Proverbs 16:28 notes, "A perverse man spreads dissension, and a gossip separates close friends." This highlights the divisive nature of gossip and the relational damage it can cause. Similarly, Psalm 34:13 exhorts, "Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech." This call to integrity in speech reflects the broader biblical theme of truthfulness and honesty. Oh LORD Jesus, may the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be pleasing in your sight. Yes, dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18. Like a script written out for a play or movie. So are our words waiting for action to follow. God has written out his plan for our lives, and He is calling out to you today, ACTION!
