Proverbs of a 42 yr old man

Does God want you to be a better christian or a better son? There is a big difference there. Because a better christian in discipleship usually looks like have more faith, read your bible more, go to church more. But to be a better son in discipleship speaks more to what God in Christ is trying to do in his body. Yes we are ambassadors, yes we are priests and kings, and yes we are more than conquerors. But first before all we are sons and daughter's. Before we are the word Christians in the modern day sense we are sons. The Father in heaven wants us to bear the Image of his Son. You take the word Christian many say it means little christs. This is not just abou power and authority but about adoption and sonship. You will able to share the Gospel more effectively to me this way more than any other way. Think about how people are saved and added the Kingdom. Usually through evangelist and preaching. Then you need teachers, prophets, and pastors. The five fold gifting working together and gifts of the spirit continue from there. But the fruit of the Spirit we are after as well and is greater. The Gospel more about thr fruit of the Spirit rather than the gifts. Both should be pursued with ferverency. But I think many times we as the church, including myself, make discipleship all about the gifts when its more about the fruit. And again the fruit is to bear the Image of Christ in us the hope of glory. Its a fascinating mystery but as we grow as sons and daughter's we will be better at being Christians persay. Maybe its better not separate the two. But just for this example alone how important sonship is to discipleship and in sharing the Gospel. Christianity has become a religion instead of pure devotion. James 1:27 says Pure and unblemished religion [as it is expressed in outward acts] in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the [secular] world. Amen. Christianity cannot save. Also, it’s not a demonstration of spiritual insight or power that saves. A person can seem like a Christian in the eyes of other people, yet still be an “evildoer” in God’s sight and sent away from His presence. Only those who do the Father’s will and who are known of God will enter heaven. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ Amen. What matters most is did you bear the image of Christ or did you just seek Christianity for its power and influence?
