Proverbs of a 35 yr old man

Only God is truly good. You may be a great person and do many amazing things on this earth, but are you really a good person? Well it depends on your definition. To the world being good is staying respected with the culturally norms of the day. It changes all the time causing to compromised your beliefs and standards. But if you are talking about inheriting eternal life, than only Christ is worthy of being called righteous and good. Many of us have attempted to keep the commandments from our youth. Commandments like, do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your father and mother. For those of us who have kept them perfectly from birth, there still remains the factor of sacrifice. For rarely will someone die for a just person--though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die. All humanity lacks one thing so that they can be called good like God, and that is true righteousness. We are all inherently born in sin and have no concept on what life is without sin and death. Think about that one thing that you hold sinfully tight, were it not for the grace of Christ who loosens your grip. You would never in your right mind sell everything you own and give to the poor. You would forfeit the treasures of heaven for the dung of the world apart from Christ. Only Jesus is truly good. Though he was God, he humbled himself by becoming a man and never sinned. He kept the commandments from his youth, and when real sacrifice came he died for all evil and sinful man. On the Third day He rose again and his standard is like a rainbow in the sky, showing us what being good truly is. God is good, let his goodness flow into your life through Jesus Christ. Then you will know what it truly means to be a good person.
