Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Unfruitful. The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. Lord, there is a fear in the heart of every believer of being of unfruitful. Have I done enough, am I living a life that pleases you? Am I receiving the word of God and allowing it to transform me? Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. I need to be careful and not let my hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life. The day of pruning, the day judgment is coming, do not let let it come to you as a trap. As Jesus walked by a fig tree during his ministry here on earth. He was disappointed that there was no fruit in its season. He cursed it and it shriveled up and died. That's how I imagine God removing his Holy Spirit from us as we continue to resist the Spirit of Christ. For you to bear no fruit means that your roots and branches are withered and dry. Why be excessively wicked, and do not be a fool. Why should you die before your time? God wants you to live a fruitful life, His Righteousness is the a seed in every believer. To continue in sin and its apathy is to dry out the roots of your heart. This is where being unfruitful begins and barrens every part of our lives. Jesus give me your precious fruit everyday that I may eat of your grace forever.
