Proverbs of a 37 yr old man

If you give someone a small amount of power or freedom to do something, they may try to get a lot more. You gave them an inch and now they want a mile. In the same way, God has given us more than just an inch, we have his unmerited grace. You used to let the different parts of your body be slaves of your evil thoughts. But now you must make every part of your body serve God, so that you will belong completely to him. When you were slaves of sin, you didn't have to please God. But what good did you receive from the things you did? All you have to show for them is your shame, and they lead to death. Yes, your freedom should submit to God's morality. Instead we want to go the extra mile and put God to the test. What God has called sin since the fall of humanity, He expects us to have victory over through the Cross of Christ. Some are struggles for awhile, some are weaknesses for a lifetime. Even then, Jesus still calls us each day to carry own cross and He will bear it with us, his grace is sufficient. Sadly many are running the extra mile of pride instead of humbly inching closer and closer to the knowledge of Jesus. God has given us the power of the Gospel. If we stay within the boundaries of its message our freedom is endless. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Don't let sin keep ruling your lives. You are ruled by God's undeserved grace and not by the Law of sin and death. Fools make fun of guilt, mock at making amends for sin. But the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation. There is no extra mile agenda, only the massive inch of victory will do.
