Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Lord, help me to stay in the boundaries you gave established so I can experience true freedom. It is when I venture out in my own feelings and pursue my own selfish desires that I box myself in. Away from the nourishment of Holy Spirit I become enslaved to sin and pleasure. You gave me your law so that I can see that I am a sinner in need of grace. And that grace covers me, allowing me to rebuild your boundaries that I have torn down in my heart and mind. I must guard my heart, the very thing Jesus you died to give me. A new heart made of flesh that seek after pure and holy desires. I realize more than ever that freedom starts in your heart and mind. I can't discipline myself to perfection. I need to renewed and transformed inwardly so that I can see change outwardly. But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom, and continues to do so—not being a forgetful hearer, but an effective doer—he will be blessed in what he does. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. Lord, keep me diligent in being a good hearer of the word and living in within its boundary. I know the truth and its suppose to set me free. Free from sin and folly, safe in righteousness and peace. That is what all humanity is constantly searching for, and you give it to those whose mind is stayed on you. But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit. In this new way our boundaries are limitless! God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. We enjoy the wide and spacious green pastures God in Christ has provided for us to grow in righteousness and truth. We are safe in the boundary of Christ's love! Meditate Jeremiah 5:22
