Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Imagine what it would be like to be in the presence of Jesus. So holy and so pure. No interior motive and no deceit. No fingers crossed behind his back. No agenda, nothing he is trying to steal from you. Nothing of trying to take advantage of you. This is hard for finite minds like ours to understand. Usually in our world we deal with each other knowing we are not perfect. We are scared to give fully of ourselves because we do not want to be shamed. We put on a front and pretend to be someone else. Never really getting to grow in our inward parts. Becoming stunted by our outward growth, who we really truly are never shows. But imagine being in presence of Jesus. Knowing that He knows that you know He knows our hearts and minds. That's intimating at first. You cannot hide from the LORD unless you run away. And even then he knows where you are even if you don't know where he is. How freeing a conversation with Christ in person must have been. The challenge he presented people to hold their hearts accountable. You could be fake in front of him lest he expose you. Jesus was oozing in the Holy Spirit, and people craved that spirit and life. What a release it must have been when just the touch of his robe brought a sick woman pure virtuous healing. Oh, how he made the strong weep, and the weak He provided strength! He will meet with you in the night like Nicodemus. He will look for you high in trees like Zacchaeus. And He will restore you on a beach like Peter with good food and fellowship. I think about the demon possessed in the region of Gerasenes. Jesus asked for his name. And what was revealed from this man was more than what you can see on the outside. When Jesus spoke demons trembled and believed! The people in that same town feared him because they saw the dramatic change in this demon possessed man. All because of a personal experience, a conversation with Jesus. I teared up when I read that the man from whom the demons had gone begged to go with Jesus. I would have begged to just to be around his countenance everyday. His wisdom, his joy, his peace, his hugs. Interestingly enough, Jesus tells him to go back to the town that feared the message of the Gospel as well as him personally. And tell all the great things Jesus has done for him. I feel that is the mindset we must have. The world finds it hard to hear from heaven. The noise of this life is deafening and personal relationship with God in Christ is an afterthought. But in fact this is what is most desperately needed in our world. Hearing a word from the LORD is life changing. What a difference it would make to hear from the LORD in the things we are struggling in. Like the man from the Gerasenes, lets tell Jesus our name when He asks. Coming together with Him in personal conversation also called prayer. From this sacred relationship we can go back to the people we meet and share this union of peace we have God. Allowing people to taste and see that the LORD is good. And that they would want a personal relationship with God themselves. What a joy to hear and be heard by Holy Spirit. Jesus can do this every believer. The discipline of prayer will become a lifeline to dead souls. I want to talk with Jesus all day? Don't you?
