Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Why is it in the human heart when we are not paid for a job yet we work to impress. But if we are paid ahead of time its not as a priority and effort is lacking? Once we have received payment we get complacent and do not do a good job had we not got paid up front. Now this is possible for any person to do, no one is perfect in their ways. It makes me think of Salvation how perfect it is. The plan God has made to save humanity from sin and death. Our fleshly bent is work hard to survive and any advantage we can get we will spitefully use it. Jesus on the Cross has accomplished the hard work of salvation for us. He paid our sin debt offering his life as a ransom for many. So do we still need to work hard to impress God? Do we make our spiritual growth a priority in our lives? Should we give even more effort because of the gift of life Jesus has given us? I think at both extremes the human heart will fail the test of faith. That is why the plan of God in Christ is so intricate and special. It addresses every aspect of the law of sin and death and gives the grace needed to live in humility. The price of sin has been paid in full by the blood of our LORD Jesus. We do not live life under the law to impress and try to appease God for what He has done for us. No, look what God does, He gives us a down payment the gift of his presence the Holy Spirit. Though our sins are paid for the judgment of death pronounced on humanity since Adam still must be upheld. God does not want us to get complacent in a sinful world, he wants our faith in him to grow and mature. He is giving us eternal life now in the form of Holy Spirit in our lives. Gods wisdom is perfect converting the soul. In Christ our forgiveness and eternal life is paid in full. We still need to live out our days after receiving Jesus in obedience and wonder. Working out our own salvation in fear and trembling, knowing that we have been forgiven and given new life in the Spirit to walk in. While still not forfeiting the down payment of Holy Spirit by the way we sinfully live. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Work hard in hope, live free in faith, and hold on to peace found in Christ's love. Meditate 2 Cor. 1:22
