Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Sin is not just wrong but unholy. We live in a world that coddles sin and celebrates it. It has no concept of the holiness of God as many believers have. Because God is holy we don't do this. Because Gods word says this we don't do that. We have now the Living Word of God working in our hearts and lives. The standard of holiness has been raised by Christ. To be perfect like our Heavenly Father is perfect. The penalty for sin has always been brutal. Tooth for tooth and nail for nail. Gods law has kept our world from going off the rails. But death is no longer an excuse for sin. We are called in Jesus to overcome sin. To truly know God and his holiness through relationship with His Son. Sin has always been a problem in our world. Its perverting justice and mercy in our world. We need a standard bearing and Jesus is that for all mankind. To realize this we need a total transformation of our minds. To not look at evil as just wrong, but as unholy. There are immutable reasons that Gods has set before us. We are called to live above our sinful desires and pursue the Holy Calling of Christ. Our world is becoming a cesspool of sin for evil spirits to roam in. Like an alligator in swampy waters they are entrapping and swallowing up people into unholy lives of sin. Oh to be holy! Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Teach me to distinguish right from wrong, how can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
