Oh To Be Wise Meditations
The elevated plain. LORD, take me away. Take me away to a higher place. Oh how I have loved the habitation of Your house, And the place where Your glory dwells. Don't sweep me away, as you do sinners. Don't punish me with death as you do those people who are brutal or full of meanness or who bribe others. Help me Jesus to lead a blameless life; deliver me and be merciful to me. My feet stand on level ground; in the great congregation I will praise the LORD. Let me see the promised land with my eyes so I can catch a vision of your plans. If only for just a moment like the view Moses had, let me see what you have planned for me. I want to make you proud and give you the glory. Are you not as high as the heavens? Look at the highest stars, how lofty they are! You know the way I should take, yes lead me to your elevated plain. From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. From the elevated plain you cover me with your hand, show me your glory and plan for my life. The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me, I know it.
