Oh To Be Wise Meditations
He is our Great Reward. Jesus is the Great Reward from whom all blessings flow. What a great prize he is, what wonderful promises he provides! His full return is sweeter than honey, a holy interest that fills the soul! Better to be rich in his love and mercy. These things moth and rust cannot destroy. everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ. This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. My soul boasts in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice. Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth." The LORD rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence. And that innocence is founded in Christ Jesus our LORD and Savior.
