Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Restrain me LORD. Watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked. Do not withhold your mercy from me, LORD; may your love and faithfulness always protect me. Let me not go far from you that your mercy and grace cannot be found. If we are not restrained from sin what will happen to a society? This is what the LORD says about this people: “They greatly love to wander; they do not restrain their feet. So the LORD does not accept them; he will now remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.” Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me. Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. The Spirit of Christ in me restrains me even though my mouth wants to speak evil and dwell in sin. The LORD is restraining me loosening the chains of evil desires within me. My feelings are chains that hold me captive to sin. What a freedom to experience when the LORD restrains and wickedness is loosed from you. I must stay close to Jesus and live in the light of his love for me. Praise God He restrains me!
