Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. Yes, stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you. Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress and give glory to God! Give yourself continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. Do everything without complaining and without division, then you will be the pure and innocent children of God. You live among people who are crooked and evil, but you must not do anything they can say is wrong. Try to shine as lights among the people of this world, as you hold firmly to the message that gives life. This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
