Oh To Be Wise Meditations

I heard some good and profound wisdom from my favorite boxer growing up Mike Tyson. They were asking him about training a boxer and if he would do it for someone who he thought had similar traits to himself in his youth. He responded saying a trainer is more important than a boxer. A lot of people can box but few have trainers that can take them to the next level. And its hard to find a good trainer, not everyone can do it. He used the words, its about the moral behind the style. You can have great skills but if you don't have a trainer to hone it down, you have nothing. You are a wild fighter with no direction and discipline. Its amazing how talent needs a dreamer, a believer. Some one to see the greatness in you behind all your self doubt and failure. A good trainer is hard to find, but when you do find them let their passion consume you. Everyone needs someone to believe in them. You know that Jesus believes in you right? That is why He gave us the Holy Spirit as a gift. He knows we need his loving guidance and presence to overcome this world like He did. Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed. Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law, I stopped trying to meet all its requirements so that I might live for God. No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Dear friends, keep building on the foundation of your most holy faith, as the Holy Spirit helps you to pray. You have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true, it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
