Oh To Be Wise Meditations

What an example to follow that Jesus gave to us. Scripture says to crucify yourself the same way Jesus was hung on a Cross. Wow really? Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. God took what was meant for evil on the Cross and used it for salvation revelation. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.

And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God, truly righteous and holy. Hear the LORD Jesus say: Whoever does not carry his own cross expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come and follow after Me believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me cannot be My disciple. More anything thing else in this life, we need to be his disciples. Learner of Him so when we teach others we are not ashamed. Meditate Matt. 16:24
