Oh To Be Wise Meditations
The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Reason with me:
Why is the more prohibition you have the less virtuous people are? Christianity translates culture and doesn't dominate it. We don't rely on the state to ensure adherence, we have confidence in the power of God to rule hearts.
Why is the more weapons we have the less secure we feel? Because is doing what is right in there own eyes. When Lawlessness rules the heart of a city people feel unsafe. Justice suffers when men refuse to stand firm for what is right. If we don't fight lawlessness, it prevails. If we don't establish the truth in our nations, truth becomes foreign in the country. God says there is no righteousness when there is nobody who stands for the truth. Lastly, why is it the more subsides you have, the less self reliant people will be? Whoever loves money never has enough;whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. Free money many times leads to slavery because hard work and labor is neglected. Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.
A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys.
