Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Rebuke the waves. You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas. You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations. Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy. Yes, where there is chaos you bring peace. Where there is storm you bring shelter. Where there is rising waters you bring us to higher ground, a higher call to faith and trust in you. I love the thought of you saying peace be still as a rebuke to the wind and the waves. Your rebuke is a blessing in my life. It brings me healing, wisdom, encouragement, and peace. I love the story of Jesus starting in Luke 4:37 where news about him was spreading. He had just left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them. I love the command Jesus spoke with. Other translations say ordered or commanded the fever to go away. Same in Luke 4:41 Jesus again rebukes this time demons telling them to come out of sin sick souls. I pray today that God would rebuke anything in your life that is oppressing you causing you to sin. Or another physically that is taking a toll on your body, asking God in Christ to rebuke that sickness in you and give you a saving and restoring health.
