Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Oh LORD teach me to be a people-respecter, not a people-pleaser. And of all the people I should respect, I need to make sure to include myself. To stand up for myself holding common decency, so that my humility is not presented like a doormat for people. To often I set a double standard for me and the rest of the world. I need hold my self respect and hold people accountable for common decency. We need to expect things from others that we would expect ourselves to do. It is possible to be nice and hold your ground and self respect. To be gracious and respectful in saying no. We don't have to be mean and arrogant when speaking the truth in love. Now people don't like change. There will be people upset because you stand up for yourself. But in the end many will respect you for it for being honest. Of course others will not but things can get abusive if we don't speak up. God does not want us to be doormats. He calls us to the go the extra mile for his glory and not the glory of man. You don't please people you please God. If people are causing you to sin you need to stand up and please God. We are ruled by Christ's love for us. We are certain that if one person died for everyone else, then all of us have died. And Christ did die for all of us. He died so we would no longer live for ourselves, but for the one who died and was raised to life for us. I will live for you today Jesus and hold the holy standard you carried while here on Earth.
