Oh To Be Wise Meditations
I am called as a sheep of the LORD's pasture to fear no evil, even in the valley of the shadow of death. To take comfort in the rod and staff of my Great Shepherd. His Staff is a place of resting for the troubles of the day, a support and a very present help in times of trouble. His Rod is my defender that lays hold of my horns or legs to pull them out of the thickets, pits, and troubled waters I get into. We are prone to wander in our hearts and minds distancing ourselves from the presence of Christ. We tend to fear the rod as correction and discipline but realize it is to comfort us and sustain us. Take peace in the staff and rod of Jesus guiding us daily into his green pastures. He who has his God for a companion need fear no danger; for he can neither mistake his way, nor be injured. Horses and donkeys must be beaten and bridled--and so must fools. But look at the Great Shepherd though as He calls out to his Sheep, they know his voice! They see the rod that comforts all there fears!
