Oh To Be Wise Meditations

God reserves for Himself the right to avenge. The LORD said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them. We are to allow Him to judge rightly and pour out His divine retribution against His enemies as He sees fit. As Christians, we are to follow the LORD Jesus command to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you leaving the vengeance to God. Unlike us, God never takes vengeance from impure motives. His vengeance is for the purpose of punishing those who have offended and rejected Him. We are to pray for God to avenge us and not to give revenge. Only God in his Holiness and Sovereignty could make that judgment call perfectly. Our emotions and sinful nature gives us a sense of uncontrolled vindictiveness rather than the just retribution from the eternal Judge whose judgments are perfect. Think about this: Even when the innocent suffer and the wicked appear to prosper, it is for God alone to punish. The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. As Living sacrifices unto the LORD Jesus, our lives should testify against evil and for the punishment of the wicked. And it is not blood for blood that can never repay, but a turning of the other cheek allowing Gods wrath to build up upon the solid case for Christ blood shed for man. Jesus blood speaks louder Abel’s blood who was dealt such injustice and needed recompense. The blood of Jesus runs red with so much vengeance that those who trample it have no other way to be saved from their sins. It would have been better for them to not even been born than to face the Judgment Seat of Christ. The fire in his eyes alone and the sword coming out of his mouth is terrifying enough. Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! Jesus is coming again soon. He is being justice and restitution with Him.
