Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Fall asleep. LORD, I don't want to fall asleep. I don't want to miss a thing. I want to be aware of Holy Spirit and where He is moving. Help me to prepare my mind for action. To be sober-minded and to set my hope fully on the grace to be given to me at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Listen, the hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. All of us also lived like this at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest of this world, we were by nature children of wrath. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, he made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For we are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
