Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Remember The LORD before you become fearful of falling and worry about danger in the streets; before your hair turns white like an almond tree in bloom, and you drag along without energy like a dying grasshopper, and desire no longer is stirred. Remember him before you near the grave, your everlasting home, when the mourners will weep at your funeral. Yes, remember him before the silver cord snaps, the golden bowl breaks; the water pitcher is smashed, and the pulley at the well is shattered. For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. So, banish sorrow from your heart, and evil from your body, since both childhood and the prime of life are fleeting. Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. God's word is like the almond branch. Its one of the first plants to bud and is the last to bloom. It's a picture of the Living Word budding in us long before we see its fruition in our lives. But through the patience of the saints we bloom into a beautiful faith relationship with Christ. Reminding us of God's goodness even in a such sinful world. Always remember God is always with us from bud to bloom, watching over his word to perform it. Know the LORD today and have hope for tomorrow.
