Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Prayer is not a transaction with God. I heard a close brother of mine share this and thought this was so powerful to understand. Usually in our flesh our prayers are amiss. We are asking God for things in exchange for our service to him. If you get me this job, if you heal my family member, if you let me get this money, if you give me this spouse? When you pray, don't talk on and on as people do who don't know God. They think God likes to hear long prayers. Don't be like them. Your Father knows what you need even before you ask. Think about that: He knows what you need in every situation. You might want that one thing but God knows that is not what you need. Too often we want to bargain with God in our prayers when Jesus has already given us everything we need for life and godliness. LORD, help us to not to treat prayer like a vending machine. To treat it like a genie where we wish for things that are not apart of your Will. But to desire prayer to be connected with you Jesus all day. Not trying to make a deal but to stay close to your wisdom and covering presence. Oh to be like the persistent widow and never give up on pursuing justice. Will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off I tell you, The LORD will see that we get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
