Forget the mistake. Remember the lesson. Strike a mocker, and a gullible person may learn a lesson. Warn an understanding person, and he will gain more knowledge.
Again, dumb fools learn good sense by seeing others punished; and a sensible person learns by being corrected. Let the godly strike you! It will be a kindness! If they correct you, it is soothing medicine. Don’t refuse it. Better to be criticized by a wise person than to be praised by a fool. Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could only control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Study Prov. 10:21
