Proverbs of a 36 yr old man
The prophet Jeremiah mourned for the sins of his people, even becoming known to his people as the weeping prophet. His tears were for his country because it was ruined from within first by sin and then destroyed in hostile take over by Assyria and Babylon. Those times are not much different from today's, people are more divided on everything especially God and His Word. Sometimes false prophets spoke to the people of Israel. False teachers will also sneak in and speak harmful lies to you. But these teachers don't really belong to the Master who paid a great price for them, and they will quickly destroy themselves. Many have abandoned their faith and follow their immoral ways; and because of what they do, others will speak evil of the Way of truth. Now more than ever, their needs to be a prick of the heart rather than the cold knee of oppression. Not often enough in our prayer gatherings are their sobs of brokenness about the sins of our country. But sadly people will get their backs up more when anger rises about ruining their America. Are we fighting for God's Kingdom or for our own posterity and pride? More weeping, less anger, so that the lost and hurting can be comforted by the Grace of God. Vengeance is the LORD's, and on that day there will be gnashing of teeth with great weeping.
