Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the spiritual blessings that Christ has brought us from heaven! Before the world was created, God had Christ choose us to live with him and to be his holy and innocent and loving people. Deciding in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. God has blessed us like Ephraim and Manasseh. The two sons of Joseph adopted in as sons of Jacob, Israel's lineage. Jacob also cross armed the blessing, putting his right hand and giving the inheritance to Ephraim rather than the older Manasseh. Through the Cross God crossed armed the blessings that Jesus deserved and gave it us. Jesus was the firstborn of new creation and deserved the Right hand blessing of God. In Israel the tradition of firstborn meant that you got all the blessings and inheritance. In Christ we have the an eternal inheritance that he gained for us. We were second born into sin and death, Jesus gave us his beautiful life and and bore upon himself our ashes and punishment. Tears of joy will stream down their faces, and I will lead them home with great care. They will walk beside quiet streams and on smooth paths where they will not stumble. For I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My firstborn.
