Just like you cannot catch fire into your lap and not be burned, so is the end consequence of sexual sin. Stay away from sexual sins. Other sins that people commit don't affect their bodies the same way sexual sins do. People who sin sexually sin against their own bodies. Its your body that is filled like a cistern with water. But it's not for you to desire and water everywhere, only in one place designed by God called marriage. Lust is a spirit and cannot be cut off from the flesh. It's in our spiritual nature and that is what Jesus wants us to cut off. If your eye is causing you to sin it needs to be watered in the flesh and cut off in the spirit. Hear me out. The flesh profits nothing. So we should combat it with the Spirit that gives life. Just let the flesh die, do not feed it lustful desires and debauchery or even your own free will. No, water yourself daily with the Living Word. Washing not just your hands like Pilate did, wanting no part of Jesus. But in relationship with Christ we can cut off these sinful desires like sinful lust out of our spiritual system, and then physically wash it out with the word. The flesh profits nothing. It is the Spirit of Christ in us that nets us eternal life. Remember its your flesh that produces these sinful desires that does its damage within the body. It needs to be washed out daily by the water and the Living Word Himself. What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? Why should your springs flow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? My sister, my bride, you are a garden locked up, a spring enclosed, a fountain sealed. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the spouse of your youth. Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers.
