A faithful friend, who could measure its worth? They absorb the blows of a wounded friend. They hold up the broken soul and they provide shade in the heat of trial. Oh, the sweet nectar of encouragement a faithful and godly friend brings! How wonderful are the feet that bring good news where there is chaos in ones life. An intimate friend where you can bare your soul and mind. Drawing you out until the wellspring of life is refilled again. When you are lonely they are not bothered and not feeling intruded on their time. Not too busy for deep conversation, there heartfelt counsel is as sweet as perfume and incense. Some friends don't help much, but a true friend is closer than your own family. A faithful friend loves at all times, and is a brother born for a time of adversity. A person of many companions may come to ruin. But woe the person who has fallen and has no one to pick him up. Even if a friend makes their bed near the gates of hell. Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. Ask the LORD for a faithful friend. One cut from the very heart and nature of God. One who imitates the most faithful friend of all, our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. Praise God, when Jesus is my portion a constant friend is He.
