Freedom through self control. There are self destructive things that damage our lives if we allow ourselves to lose self control. One is acting on impulse. Our first impulses are often wrong and need to be controlled. Patience my friend. And anger if not held under control unleashes a torrent of harmful consequences. You can tell the size of a man by the size of the thing that makes him angry. Also If you have a big appetite, restrain yourself. Don't associate with people who drink too much wine or stuff themselves with food. We can become addicted to food and drink and cause ourselves untold misery in life. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. So be careful or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that final day will close on you suddenly like a trap. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit so that we can bear the fruit of self control in our lives now. And there is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Freedom through self control is available to every believer. Jesus help us to deny self and grow in self control.
