Rescue those who are being taken away to death, And those who stagger to the slaughter, oh hold them back from their doom! Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked. Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness. But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Yes, rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Then with fear in your own hearts, have mercy on everyone who needs it. But hate even the clothes of those who have been made dirty by their filthy deeds. Let us worship the LORD now! He is coming to judge everyone on the earth, and he will be honest and fair.
