The fruit of your words. As a tree has fruit, so good words have a good effect. Such words inform and help other people. An evil man’s words have a bad effect on himself and other people. It is from the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands brings them reward. Gentle words are a tree of life; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Take a look around you in all the relationships you have, as well as do personal inventory. What has your words brought into people's lives and hearts? What have you believed about yourself that does not line up with the Gospel? Understand this: The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight. The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from wrong. They have made God’s law their own, so they will never slip from his path.
