Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
God wants to separate you from the crowd. Its easy to get lost in the crowd and to follow along with what the world is saying and doing. When Jesus and his disciples were near the town of Caesarea Philippi, he asked them, "What do people say about the Son of Man?" The disciples answered, "Some people say you are John the Baptist or maybe Elijah or Jeremiah or some other prophet." Then Jesus asked, "But who do you say I am?" Simon Peter spoke up, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus told him: Simon, son of Jonah, you are blessed! You didn't discover this on your own. It was shown to you by my Father in heaven. Amen. In a crowd everybody can hear but is what you are hearing changing your life? He who has ears let him hear. In a crowd hearts grow dull and minds get complacent. God wants to separate a special people that are actually being changed by the Living Word in there lives. Jesus chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. We are called to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Do not shut your eyes ears and heart and be lost in the restless crowds of this world. For wide is the road of destruction and narrow is the gate to eternal life. If you cannot leave the crowds because of allegiances and politics you have become dull and blended in the world. Jesus said to the Father, I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. We are to be salt and light that stands out of the crowds of division and confusion. We stand for righteousness and truth, reconciliation and justice. Stop blending in the crowd while the crowds stomp on your salt and hide your light. I say this with Holy fear and trembling: there will be a day when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. Lets be apart of that salt and light that shines bright in the sky! For we apart of such a great cloud of witnesses!
