Proverbs of a 40 yr old man.

We all will have to get into that boat one day. One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!” Amen. We all will have to get into that boat one day. Where everything is going well and life is good. Then the winds of strife start to move in our lives. The waves of circumstance and trial begin to creep doubt and fear. We are in the wrong place at the wrong time and we have to trust in Jesus. We may think he is far away be he is near us like in the boat with the disciples. Jesus asks us today, where is your faith in God? Though it feels like your drowning in despair or in the valley of the shadow of death. The LORD Jesus is with us. He can rebuke the winds and calm the seas that have come against us. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from the power of the evil one and death. Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged. He gets in the boat with us and gets us through the storms of life. He has been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.
