Proverbs of a 40 yr old man

Be sure your sin will find you out. In the statement “be sure your sin will find you out” is revealed the mystery of sin. The nature of sin is such that, whether or not others discover your sin, your sin will “discover you.” You cannot run from the consequences. Sin carries within itself the power to pay the sinner back, and sin’s payback is hell. Don’t even think about toying with sin. It cannot be tamed, outrun, or shaken off. No matter how safe you think you are, if you are a sinner, your sin will find you out. The iniquities of a wicked man entrap him; the cords of his sin entangle him. Sin is crouching at the door of your heart; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. The only way to escape sin’s consequences is to be forgiven of your sin by faith in the death and resurrection of Christ. Sin desires to own us, and our refusal to let God set the standard for right and wrong in our lives is the fast track to sin. God acknowledges the reality of human nature. We are locked in a battle with sin's desire for us or our desire to sin. He knows we are frail human beings, but The LORD still calls us to be responsible to win the battle of temptation, to rule over sin. For Holy Spirit to take dominion in us and stand on the promises of Christ for victory. Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find life, righteousness, and honor. Yes, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. But for those who love sin and do continual evil, all that remains is a fearful expectation of judgment. A worldly sorrow with no true satisfaction is the way of the wicked. Let them no longer fool themselves by trusting in empty riches, for emptiness will be their only reward. They will be cut down in the prime of life; their branches will never again be green. They will be like a vine whose grapes are harvested too early, like an olive tree that loses its blossoms before the fruit can form. For the godless are barren. Their homes, enriched through bribery, will burn. They conceive trouble and give birth to evil. Their womb produces deceit. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. You can be sure that righteousness if you pursue Christ will find you out.
