Proverbs of a 41 yr. old man

It is futile to understand the reason behind our suffering. It is enough to know that God is in control. The LORD he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. God makes everything happen at the right time. Yet none of us can ever fully understand all he has done, and he puts questions in our minds about the past and the future. And think of what God has done! If God makes something crooked, can you make it straight? Amen. The LORD wants to be our refuge and strength in times of trouble. We need to learn that God is not bound by our understanding or lack of it. He is free and subject to no will but His own. He does not owe us an explanation for his actions. For though he wounds, he also bandages. He strikes, but his hands also heal. From six disasters he will rescue you; even in the seventh, he will keep you from evil. He will save you from death in time of famine, from the power of the sword in time of war. You will be safe from slander and have no fear when destruction comes. You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the wild animals. You will know that your home is safe. When you survey your possessions, nothing will be missing. You will go to the grave at a ripe old age, like a sheaf of grain harvested at the proper time! “We have studied life and found all this to be true. Listen to my counsel, and apply it to yourself.” Amen. Think about this in your quiet time: Embrace suffering. You will be surprised how tightly the arms of the Cross will uphold you and give you peace.
