Oh To Be Wise Meditations

I see Father and Son sipping from the same cup in heaven, enjoying the fruit of vine in fellowship of Holy Spirit. Imagine the purity of the Godhead and the sinless nature they experience in endless time. Here on earth the pure fruit of the vine ages and becomes alcohol to sooth restless souls. It is weird many times to share a cup with someone especially for sanitary reasons, but stay with my thought here. The things of heaven are unnatural for the flesh of this earth. It takes The Holy Spirit in us to be righteous in nature. The flesh can do good things but will bear no fruit for the Kingdom of God. Only reap fruit here on earth that spoils and leaves us drunk with sorrow. The Lord holds a cup in his hand, filled with the strong wine of his anger. He pours it out, and all the wicked drink it; they drink it down to the last drop. Jesus has lifted up the cup of salvation only after he has drunk the full portion of the punishment for our sins. The just penalty for all humanity was not poured out on them, but upon Christ. The Father and Son brought us into their fellowship of Holy Spirit through the power of the Gospel. We only taste death after Jesus swallowed it on the Cross! Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my future secure. You have anointed my head with oil making my cup overflow from within me. Jesus did for us what we could not for ourselves. He has become the head and we the body. In the past we lead with our tails and tripped into sin and death. Sipping the cup of life God gives us freely everyday and make a mess out of it. But Christ has drunk the impure mixture of our sins, and filled us with the fresh fruit of the vine, Holy Spirit. In this body we experience the death of Christ. Yes, We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. We are sipping from the fresh cup of fellowship in heaven between the Father and Son and Holy Spirit. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. We all are drinking from the same cup of Holy Spirit thanks be to Jesus Christ our Lord. Though it feels unnatural to our flesh to share a single cup, lets allow God to change our hearts and minds. So we can share the cup of salvation with thirsty souls. Drink up spirit and life, the true sprite. Meditate John 18:11
