Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Why do I fast? Is it to give up eating and to act as humble as a bent-over bush? Or to dress in sackcloth and sit in ashes? Is this the fast God has chosen for me, to go through the motions only and then go about my day? I'll tell you what it really means to worship the Lord. Is not rather to loose the bands of wickedness, undo the bundles that oppress, let them that are broken go free, and break asunder every burden! Lord, you want me to share my food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need my help. I want the light of Jesus to shine like the dawning sun from within me, bringing healing and peace to relationships around me. Be with me always Lord to save me from my mistakes, your presence is my protection. For when I was hungry you gave me something to eat, when I was thirsty you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger to the Gospel and you took me in. I was naked in judgment and you clothed me with eternal life, I was sick in sin and you looked after me, I was in spiritual prison and you visited me. May I be as honest and caring to my neighbor as you were and still are to me. Love you Lord. Meditate James 1:27
