Oh To Be Wise Meditations

This is what the high and exalted One says-- he who lives forever, whose name is holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. I will not accuse you forever. I will not be angry with you forever. Otherwise, the spirits, the lives of those I've made, would grow faint in my presence. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.” God, the LORD, created the heavens and stretched them out. He created the earth and everything in it. He gives breath to everyone, life to everyone who walks the earth. God remembers that we are made of flesh and like the wind that blows once and then dies down. Because of sin we are all spiritually dead to God and only alive physically because of the Grace of God. Those people without the breath of Holy Spirit are surviving off the earths's ventilation system. This world is passing away but the word of our God will never pass away. The life that was breathed into Adam by God Himself to spark all humanity was removed by sin and death. Jesus breathed out his Holy Spirit on Pentecost, and humanities hope for real eternal life is found in Him. The fleeting desires of this world leave you breathless, in need of pure spiritual life. God in Christ wants to sustain you now and give you his breath of life forever. Breathe in Holy Spirit, and exhale peace. Lord, thank you for keeping me alive and allowing to me know you more.
