Proverbs of 37 yr old man

The Old Me. Sometimes I want to go back to the old me, but I don't know him anymore. The person I once was is no more. He wouldn't want to hang with me anyway, I am so different now and I don't even understand myself sometimes. But I still try looking for him, just to get a shoulder to cry on. I see remnants here and there of him but the old me has disappeared into the past. What happened in the past is being washed away by the coming tide of the present. And through the process of erosion the present is wearing away to our inevitable future shoreline. I didn't realize that the new person I had become in Christ would be at enmity with with the old me. God has a way of changing you so that you don't even enjoy the old things you use to do. In fact, when you do them it only pleases the flesh and not the soul. We are told in the Holy Scriptures that our foolish desires will destroy us and that we must give up our old way of life with all its bad habits. Let the Spirit change your way of thinking putting on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Going back to the old you now is as uncomfortable as trying to put new wine into old wine skins. The new me would swell and burst the old me. Then the new me would be lost ruining the victory I had over the old me. The new wine, me, must be put into new wine skins, Christ's calling for my life. So both the skins and the wine will then be safe.
