Oh To Be Wise Meditations

The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out. We need to be asking for the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. More time discerning and less time hearing doing nothing. Those who listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise. Even if its humbling we need to dwell in where truth is spoken. Everyone with good sense wants to learn more Jesus and less about themselves. Its only through knowing Christ that we understand God's will for our lives. As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.” So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. The spirit of this age is so focused on the things God has made. Trying to figure out the mysteries of the universe while trying as well to break down the infinite things of reality. To the christian they have the advantage of knowing that Jesus is the author and finisher of their faith. They are focused on the infinite realities of knowing Him and what that means. There is so much knowledge in the world that we can not safely morally handle it. We leave the mysteries of universe to God, the things we cannot fathom and pursue Jesus as our wisdom. We are like the ant in a world that we can only understand from our point of view. When we go outside of ourselves to try to explain life and reality we are like an ant trying to figure out the world outside of theirs. God did what he had purposed, and made known to us the secret plan he had already decided to complete by means of Christ. This plan, which God will complete when the time is right, is to bring all creation together, everything in heaven and on earth, with Christ as head. All things are done according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning. He did this so Jews would bring honor to him and be the first ones to have hope because of him. And now the Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
