Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Starved for attention. So many people just want to be listened too. They will pay good money for it, and do all kinds of shocking things to get attention. I think about Jesus when the disciples were sadden in hearing Jesus must leave. Here lets read it: But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. Some of the disciples asked each other, “What does he mean when he says, ‘In a little while you won’t see me, but then you will see me,’ and ‘I am going to the Father’? The disciples could not understand Jesus leaving them. With him gone would not that mean he is far from us? I remember reading in scripture about Jesus saying he had compassion on large crowds of people because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. So many people needed Christ and many times he would meet everyone's need in a town. But He knew only through the Holy Spirit filling the earth once again could attention be rightly made to each living soul. There is no one that Jesus is avoiding and no one who is missing a chance for salvation. Either by conscience, by law, or by grace. No one gets to the Father but through the Cross of Jesus. Starved for attention? Abba is willing to listen. Jesus has connected us the Fellowship in heaven and wants to hear about your struggles, your hopes, yours fears. The greatest gift God offers us is Himself. I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies. Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.
