Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Grace works within the lines of God's law. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing! He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and was raised to life for our justification. God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. The Law came, so that the full power of sin could be seen. Yet where sin was powerful, God's gift of undeserved grace was even more powerful. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break. Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come. But the gift of God's undeserved grace was very different from Adam's sin. That one sin brought death to many others. Yet in an even greater way, Jesus Christ alone brought God's gift of undeserved grace to many people. So there is order to Gods grace as it perfectly works off Gods moral law. Therefore let us not allow sin to reign in our mortal bodies. Let his grace of Jesus abound in you greatly.
