Oh To Be Wise Meditations

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. Amen. This world is the LORD's. Sin and evil have marred what God had purposed on this earth. Praise God! Jesus purchased us with his blood. All creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore. The day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. Everything is the LORD's. Through redemption, sanctification, and justification. God in Christ is claiming everything that is his through the power of the Gospel. Everything is LORD's, it always was.
