Proverbs of a 38 yr old man
Cultivate a tender and obedient heart in your life. You will save yourself much pain in life if you do. The best way to do this is through external discipline that leads to self discipline, its necessary for the the proper functioning of the human spirit. Someone has said you cannot break the laws of God, you can only break yourself against them when you violate them. There are natural consequences that come to us when we break God's laws. Just as a car owner cannot ignore or violate the owner's manual. All the instructions in it are for the good of the vehicle, or the person as the case may be. The manufacturer/creator knows how the car/human was made, how it runs, and what must be done to it to care for its welfare. Car owners, and humans, ignore this information at their peril. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as “temporary residents.” For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake. Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.
