Proverbs of a 38 yr old man
The greatest test of a man's character is his tongue. The tongue reveals what is in the heart: wise heart, wise words; foolish heart, foolish words. The wise person is committed to doing right in words and deeds. They study how to say the right thing at the right time. They control their anger so that they do not say harmful things that cannot be taken back. If you think you are being religious, but can't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is useless. As the scripture says, "If you want to enjoy life and wish to see good times, you must keep from speaking evil and stop telling lies. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. Lets allow perseverance to finish its work, so that we may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Here's my tongue Jesus, transform it. Change my heart and in so doing change my speech. Make me wise and obedient and also faithful. And may my words help others in their walk with you.
