Proverbs of a 39 yr old man
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for government leaders and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. When the godly succeed, everyone is glad. When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding. We want good people to succeed. We want good people to be in the government. And we want our rulers to serve God. Then our country will be a good country. But if wicked people are the rulers, then the country is a bad place. The law is not fair. Everybody suffers. So we should pray for our rulers. My child of faith, fear the LORD and the king. Don’t associate with rebels, for disaster will hit them suddenly. Who knows what punishment will come from the LORD and the king?
