Proverbs of a 40 yr old man

Love needs to be tough. Sometimes tough love is just being present and showing you care. Confronting hurt or failure as well as bringing reconciliation and peace. Yes, love needs to be tough so that truth can be honored. Watered down love washes away responsibility and leaves room for ignorance. Saying yes all the time is not love. Many times it destroys more than the word No does. No can be better for you because a yes to everything will lead you to destruction. At least a no for now can give you time and space for closure. Instead we rush to love people in their sins and end up coddling sin in their lives. What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar. The Fear of the LORD leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm. Lets not lie to people but show truth in love. Tough love is patient and kind, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn't selfish or quick tempered. It doesn't keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. Love never fails! Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much. But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes. Real love comes from God. Jesus demonstrated his love on the Cross so that we might live for Him. So we must show his love to others through our lives and sharing of the Gospel. Do to others as you would like them to do to you. If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. That's tough love in action.
