Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
Wicked desires. I lust. I burn with passion. I am a slave to wicked desires that stir me to sin. Lost in my feelings, it is possible to gain the whole word and lose my soul. I have sinned and done wrong since the day I was born.
But you want complete honesty, so teach me true wisdom. I know about my sins, and I cannot forget the burden of my guilt. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. What is man, that he can be pure? Or he who is born of a woman, that he can be righteous? Look, the wicked can expect only judgment. For those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger. The wicked brag about their deepest desires. Those greedy people hate and curse you, LORD. Yes, the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart; and the unjust one blesses himself. A righteous person eats to satisfy his appetite, but the bellies of wicked people are always empty. Amen. These wicked desires they dam up the living well in me and cause fruitlessness in my heart and life. All day long we are counted as sheep for slaughter. The enemy of our souls and his minions come often to kill our dreams, steal our joy, and try to destroy our destiny. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So, you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. What a relief though I am strengthened by gift of Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds. A perfect peace that surpasses all understanding the living water wash my body and soul clean. I realize now LORD Jesus; you have given me the greatest gift of all to silence these wicked desires. Yes, you have given your precious victorious Mind! For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. And we know that The Son of God has come, and he has given us a mind to know The True One and to be in The True One-that is, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Amen. So clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Put on and live from the peace of God found in the Mind of Christ. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Only Jesus! Fill me with your thoughts and holy passions. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!
